Liverpool vs. Bournemouth on December 4, 2016

Now, let us look at the EPL match between Liverpool and Bournemouth that recently took place on December 4, 2016. In this match, Bournemouth beat Liverpool with a score of 4 to 3. Bournemouth supporters will never forget the result of this match simply because it was the very first time in their history that Bournemouth had won over Liverpool.

Additionally, they will be happy because the scoreboard looked so different when there were only 15 minutes remaining in the match.  At that time, the Cherries had 1 goal and Liverpool had 3 goals. Liverpool was ahead by 2 to 0 even after 22 minutes.

However, it is very memorable how Liverpool collapsed in just nine tragic minutes with a lead of 3 to 0 in 2014 against Crystal Palace, where they left Dorset without any points. It shows that they slipped to the third position in the league over the weekend, even in the absence of both Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho of their starting team.

In the recent match, the main problem for Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool team, is in his team’s defending, particularly in Loris Karius’s goalkeeping. Karius gifted Bournemouth a win. This was a great finale to one of the football matches of this season of the English Premier League. Moreover, this week the tally for Bournemouth’s manager Eddie Howe reached 300 matches as the team’s manager and also pushed his team into the top half.

This win for Bournemouth might be its pinnacle after its three victories and promotions last season against both Chelsea and Manchester United. The famous win of Eddie Howe’s team is really commendable. His team did not just beat Liverpool, but it was the way that it recovered by still playing such attacking and open football.

The FA regards Howe as one of the best English football managers of the future. However, if his progress continues like this, then soon one of the elite football clubs will examine his connection with Bournemouth.

On Sunday, Bournemouth stole the win with a last minute goals. The title challenge of Liverpool suffered a blow late, when Bournemouth beat the men of Jurgen Klopp at Dean Court (Vitality Stadium) with a score of 4 to 3 in what is considered as one of the most thrilling clashes ever.

The Reds seemed to pick up 3 points against the men of Eddie Howe, but when they lost after the home side scored a last minute goal. Steve Cook and Ryan Fraser hit in the final phase of second half prior to Nathan Ake struck a big injury time lead for Bournemouth. Divock Origi and Sadio Mane scored two goals in the two first-half minutes, which put Liverpool ahead of them.

But after this, Callum Wilson retracted one spot after 56 minutes. Then, Emre Can gave two clear goals to Liverpool, but substitute Steve Cook and Ryan Fraser scored twice in the same number of minutes to equal the score. After this, Narthan Ake benefitted from the mistake of Loris Karius in injury time and sealed the win for his team.

Post-match reaction

After the match, as per Emlyn Begley of BBC Sport, the boss of Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, believed that Bournemouth were the deserving winners, as they scored some great goals. Meanwhile, the manager of Cherries, Eddie Howe, hailed the attitude of his team. He said that his players could have given up easily, but his team knows not to give up. He added that his team scored at the correct time.

Moreover, he said that when the scores are equal, it is easy to sit back and just defend, but his team kept going even after that. According to Begley, Eddies added that the team looked like scoring in each of their attack in the second half. He said that it was a very special day for the club and everyone else involved with it. Bournemouth had never been in the EPL till last season so the team is making history.
