Football clubs contribute to war refugees

The refugee crisis in Europe is continuing to make waves , and there are football clubs across the continent that are trying to contribute. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have all announced that they will donate a substantial amount to refugees in their countries. Also, Roma announced today (Sunday), a new initiative in which football fans will be able to contribute from around the world to refugees.

The Charity institute “Football Cares” have been aligned with Roma FC for several years, they are the group’s sponsor and appear on shirts worn by the players. The club has decided to take it a step further and went on a special campaign to help refugees who risk their lives to escape the war. Unlike other European groups who have decided to donate money, the Italian club decided to take a slightly different approach.

“Roma will unveil on Tuesday its plan for the campaign, a program created specifically to allow clubs and fans to put their rivalry aside and unite to raise money for charity and ease the humanitarian crisis”, written in Italy. The plan also conducted online auction, with all profits transferred to the refugees. Rome FC have also published a personal appeal to clubs all over the world seeking support and donate for a noble cause.

“Football Cares alone cannot end the refugee crisis”,said in an article published on AS Rome news magazine, “but by coming together as one, we can a difference in helping save lives and easing the suffering of refugees everywhere.”

Over the last few days, many major club owners from had offered their support to help the war refugees. Another interesting initiative is also taking shape in the Champions League and who is responsible for it is FC Porto. The Portuguese UEFA club had sent an official letter in which they suggested that all 32 participating teams in the group stage of the Champions League will contribute 1 Euro from each sold ticket for The first two Champions League rounds. Recently there was a consent of 80 clubs participating in the champions League and in the Europa League to donate 1 euro from each ticket and give they part trying to resolve the refugee’s crisis.
